What we offer at Northern Dermatology
Photodynamic therapy treatments include:
Photodynamic therapy for acne

Aminolevulinic acid cream is applied to the skin and 3 hours later, red light is then used to illuminate the treatment area. Inflammation of the lower lip lasts for up to 7 days. Sometimes a second treatment is required several weeks later.
Photodynamic therapy for basal cell carcinoma
Photodynamic therapy is a non-surgical treatment for superficial and solid basal cell carcinoma. Aminolevulinic acid cream is applied to the skin and 3 hours later, red light is then used to illuminate the treatment area. Two treatments 14 days apart is required.
Photodynamic therapy for sun spots
Photodynamic therapy (“PDT”) is an excellent treatment for solar keratosis on the face. Aminolevulinic acid cream is applied to the skin and three hours later, red light is then used to illuminate the treatment area. In comparison to other treatments, PDT has a shorter downtime of only one week.
